Kelly Hart Pitre Wins in United States and Louisiana Supreme Courts

Kelly Hart Pitre prevails in the United States and Louisiana Supreme Courts for client South Lafourche Levee District.

The Kelly Hart team of Loulan Pitre, Aimee Hebert, and Jane Jackson was retained to appeal a trial court judgment against the South Lafourche Levee District (SLLD) regarding compensation for land used for levee purposes.  After achieving limited success at the state court of appeals, the Kelly Hart team obtained a writ of certiorari from the Louisiana Supreme Court, which ruled in favor of SLLD on two of the three contested issues.  The opposing party filed with the United States Supreme Court a petition for a writ of certiorari, which attracted three amicus briefs and drew a request for a response.  After the Kelly Hart team filed its response, the Supreme Court denied the writ.
