Biography
Gary Carter is a partner in our New Orleans office. He represents individuals, corporations, and other institutional clients in all aspects of litigation and trials including business and commercial disputes, products liability and tort claims, oil and gas litigation, environmental litigation, and public utility litigation.

His practice includes representing clients in contested permitting cases, environmental enforcement cases, and other forms of dispute resolution, contract negotiation, and regulatory compliance.  Mr. Carter also handles disputes and litigation involving public utilities. 


Prior to joining Kelly Hart, Mr. Carter worked as Senior Counsel at Entergy Corporation, an integrated energy company engaged primarily in electric power production and retail distribution operations.  At Entergy, he defended the company in commercial and tort matters pending in state and federal courts.

Mr. Carter is Chair of the Defense Research Institute’s Public Utility Task Force and was Co-Leader of Entergy Corporation’s Pro Bono Initiative from 2012-2014. He is a frequent speaker and guest panelist for the Louisiana State Bar Association’s Diversity Conclave, the Louisiana Attorney Disciplinary Board and the Defense Research Institute.  He also regularly speaks on matters related to the use of wireless technology in courtrooms.
