William N. Warren

BIOGRAPHY

William N. Warren joined Kelly Hart in 1993. Mr. Warren is a partner in the firm’s Litigation practice group. He attended Baylor University, where he obtained his Bachelor of Arts in 1989, and Baylor University Law School, graduating with his Juris Doctor, cum laude, in 1993. Mr. Warren has considerable experience representing clients in state and federal courts in a broad range of complex civil litigation matters, including business torts, securities issues, construction claims, products liability, and fraud related lawsuits.

EXPERIENCE AND HIGHLIGHTS
  • Lead trial counsel for plaintiffs in suit against defendant advisor and his affiliated company for breach of fiduciary duty, fraud, and professional negligence; obtained seven-figure jury verdict for actual and punitive damages, and final judgment imposing a constructive trust on company assets
  • Lead trial counsel for attorney seeking to recover for breach of contingency fee agreement; obtained seven-figure settlement on eve of trial
  • Lead trial counsel for four defendants in lawsuit with damage claims ranging between $3,000,000 and $40,000,000; take-nothing judgment for two defendants obtained at trial and for remaining two defendants on appeal
  • Lead counsel for family trust in suit brought against it in family court by former spouse seeking to obtain trust assets; obtained defense judgment barring such an interest
  • Lead counsel for plaintiff construction company in lawsuit alleging breach of contract and tortious interference. Secured seven figure summary judgment against corporate defendant and its president, as well as civil and criminal contempt orders against those defendants
  • Lead counsel for defendant company and majority shareholder in arbitration proceeding involving various contract and tort claims. Secured successful result for both defendants
  • Lead trial counsel for chemical supplier in product liability suit; received summary judgment for client
  • Lead trial counsel for developer; secured summary dismissal in suit brought to block planned residential development
  • Secured summary judgment for multiple defendants in state lawsuit in which plaintiff alleged numerous fraud-based causes of action related to a stock transaction, claiming multiple millions in damages. Also remained counsel through appeals to Court of Appeals and Texas Supreme Court, where decision was affirmed
  • Secured summary judgment for defendant, a monthly magazine, in federal case where plaintiff alleged defamation claims and requested several million dollars in damages. Also remained counsel on appeal to Fifth Circuit, where decision was affirmed
  • Secured summary judgment for multiple defendants accused of misappropriation of image and false light claims in state court
  • Secured dismissal of lawsuit against defendant, a municipal retirement fund, accused of breach of fiduciary duty with the alleged damages calculated to be in the seven figures range
