Travis Clardy Receives Champion of Access Award

Travis Clardy recently received the Friend of the First Amendment Award by the Texas Press Association (TPA). 

TPA executive vice president Donnis Baggett said Clardy was a “go-to” lawmakers for advocates of press freedom and open government during the 2015 session of the Texas Legislature. Baggett said Clardy’s involvement in House Bill 1766, was essential this session.  “Travis was instrumental in our battles to restore essential libel protection for journalists and to protect our access to complete auto-accident reports,” the newspaper association executive said. “Both of these were major issues for us this session.”

Clardy has served on the Executive Board of the East Texas Boy Scouts, is a Paul Harris Fellow at the Nacogdoches Rotary Club, is a sponsor of the Heartbeat Pregnancy Center, is an active member of the North Street Church of Christ, participates on the Alumni Advisory Board for Abilene Christian University, and is a member of the Dean's Circle for the SFASU College of Fine Arts.
