Michael McConnell and Louis Phillips Featured Speakers at the Fifth Circuit Bankruptcy Bench-Bar Conference
The Fifth Circuit Bankruptcy Bench-Bar Conference, which was held February 21-23, 2018, provided plenary sessions featuring ethics, evidentiary issues, the aftermath of the most recent Supreme Court cases, and the state of the middle class.
The featured speakers for the plenary session on ethics were Michael McConnell; The Honorable Neil P. Olack, Chief Judge of the United States Bankruptcy Court, Southern District of Mississippi, and United States Bankruptcy Court Judge, Northern District of Mississippi; and Professor Jessica Gabel Cino, Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and Associate Professor of Law at Georgia State University College of Law. The featured speakers for the plenary session addressing the aftermath of the most recent Supreme Court cases were Louis Phillips; The Honorable Stacey G. C. Jernigan, United States Bankruptcy Court, Northern District of Texas; The Honorable Craig A. Gargotta, United States Bankruptcy Court, Western District of Texas; and Omar J. Alantz, Baker Botts LLP. The Bench-Bar Conference, which is presented by The Center for American and International Law, is designed to promote discussion on issues of interest to judges and lawyers and provide an opportunity for each to offer their reactions and feedback. The format includes panel discussions with audience participation and breakout groups in which groups of judges and lawyers are able to discuss topics in their individual areas of practice.
