Russell Cawyer Authors Blog on Families First Coronavirus Response Act and Emergency Paid Leave Act of 2020

The Bill, if passed by the Senate, will provide paid sick leave and unemployment benefits to employees taking leave as a result of COVID-19.

Russell Cawyer's blog post—entitled “House Passes Bill to Amend FMLA for COVID-19 Related Leaves of Absence” and published on the Texas Employment Law Update—addresses paid sick leave and unemployment benefits to employees taking leave as a result of COVID-19. Those benefits include expanded FMLA eligibility and qualifying reasons for taking job-protected unpaid leaves of absence; free coronavirus testing; and expanding food assistance.  The Bill also would require employers to provide additional protections for health care workers.
