Meredith W. Knudsen

Biography
Meredith W. Knudsen is an associate in the firm's Litigation section. Ms. Knudsen works on a range of litigation disputes across a variety of industries, with a particular focus on the energy sector.

Prior to joining Kelly Hart, Ms. Knudsen was an associate at Reed Smith LLP in Washington, DC and Houston, Texas. She has significant experience representing banks, oil and gas companies, product manufacturers, and healthcare providers. She is licensed in Texas and in the District of Columbia and has handled lawsuits in numerous other jurisdictions, including California, Louisiana, Illinois, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Delaware, and Utah. Ms. Knudsen manages discovery in both large and small disputes and has experience deposing key witnesses. Her practice includes seeking and defending summary judgments and applying the standards for the admissibility of expert testimony in state and federal courts.

Ms. Knudsen graduated from The University of Texas at Austin, magna cum laude, with a B.S. in Public Relations. She received her J.D. from The George Washington University Law School, with honors, in 2013.
Experience and highlights
  • Acted as lead associate for global energy company's national benzene team, which included upstream, midstream, downstream, and residential claims involving alleged exposures to aromatics (benzene, gasoline, diesel, among others)
  • Represented technology company against claims regarding subsurface environmental contamination
  • Represented global medical device company in multidistrict litigation against product liability claims
  • Represented nonprofit organization in contract and tort dispute with former partner
  • Represented global healthcare company in two patent infringement trials in the United States District Court for the District of Delaware
  • Successfully assisted trial team in Burst v. Shell Oil Company, a 2015 decision excluding plaintiff's exposure assessment and general causation experts and granting summary judgment for defendants in a gasoline-acute myelogenous leukemia lawsuit in the United States District Court of Louisiana, Eastern Division (New Orleans) (affirmed by the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals on May 23, 2016)
