Khari M. Ferrell
BIOGRAPHY
Khari M. Ferrell is an associate in the firm’s Labor & Employment practice group.
Prior to joining Kelly Hart, Mr. Ferrell practiced at multiple civil litigation defense law firms in Dallas, where he represented both employers and financial services institutions in disputes and litigation in state and federal courts.
While in law school, Mr. Ferrell served as a legal extern for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, as well as a law clerk for the Dallas County Public Defenders’ Office and several Dallas civil litigation law firms. In addition, Mr. Ferrell served as chief counsel for the SMU Dedman School of Law’s Civil/Consumer Clinic.
Mr. Ferrell earned his Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies from Angelo State University and later obtained his J.D. from SMU Dedman School of Law.
EXPERIENCE AND HIGHLIGHTS
- Represented employers across diverse industries in disputes and litigation involving federal and state statutes and regulations, including the Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA), Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), and the Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA), as well as claims of discrimination and retaliation under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and Chapter 21 of the Texas Labor Code
- Defended financial services institutions in both federal and state courts against individual and class action lawsuits involving various federal and state consumer protection laws, including the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA), Texas Debt Collection Act (TDCA), and Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Act (DTPA)
